Golf Cart Repair Pricing in Oro Valley

Oro Valley Golf Cart Repair publishes its prices. A lead-acid battery pack installed at your home runs $1,200 to $1,800, a lithium conversion $1,600 to $3,500, brake work $75 to $400, tires $75 to $150 each, a solenoid $100 to $250, lighting work $75 to $400, and the $50 to $100 service call is applied toward any repair you approve. Exact numbers depend on your cart’s brand, model year, and pack voltage, and you get a flat quote in the driveway before any work starts.

Most shops in the Tucson area make you call for a price. We would rather you see the ranges first, compare them, and book with a number already in mind.

The service call

Price
Service call / trip fee, anywhere in the service area$50 to $100
On-site diagnostic (load test, pack voltage, charger output, cable voltage drop, solenoid and controller checks)Included
Applied toward the repair when you approve the workYes

Oro Valley proper and Rancho Vistoso sit at the low end of the range. SaddleBrooke and Catalina to the north, and Marana and Dove Mountain across the Tortolita Mountains, sit toward the top. The fee exists because a technician, a truck, and a load tester show up at your house; it goes away, in effect, the moment you approve a repair.

The diagnostic it covers is the full sequence, not a glance: per-battery voltage and load test, a hydrometer check of specific gravity on flooded packs, a voltage-drop test along the main cables under load, charger output at the plug and the receptacle, and solenoid, throttle, and controller checks if the cart still will not move. On a cart that works real grades, we also check brake adjustment and cable condition as part of the same visit, since a slope exposes a marginal brake faster than flat ground does. You see the readings before you see a price.

Battery replacement

PackInstalled price
36V lead-acid (six 6V batteries)$1,200 to $1,600
48V lead-acid (six 8V or four 12V)$1,400 to $1,800 with premium brands like Trojan
Typical full lead-acid pack, all carts$1,200 to $1,800
Lithium conversion, entry 48V 50 to 60Ah$1,600 to $2,200
Lithium conversion, 100Ah and up$2,500 to $3,800
Single battery replacement on a young packQuoted per battery, includes load test of the others

Every pack price includes installation, cable and terminal inspection with anti-corrosion coating, a full watering on flooded packs, hold-down torque, a test drive, and haul-away of the old cores. Lead cores have recycling value, so there is no disposal fee and no 60-pound batteries left in your garage.

Lithium conversions include a lithium-specific charger, because a lead-acid charger profile will not properly charge a LiFePO4 pack. For a cart that spends its life climbing into SaddleBrooke or Dove Mountain, lithium’s steady power under load through the last mile of a climb is a real advantage the battery replacement page covers in detail, and the battery cost calculator assembles these rows for your cart.

Brakes and tires

JobPrice
Brake adjustmentAbout $75
Brake shoes and/or drums$100 to $250
Full brake overhaul (shoes, drums, cables, hardware)$200 to $400
Tire installed, standard$75 to $150 each
Set of four tires installed$300 to $600 (more for lifted or low-profile styles)

This is the line that moves most between our service area and a flat retirement market. A cart that descends any real grade regularly, whether that is a Catalina Foothills wash crossing or the roads into Dove Mountain, brakes more often and harder than one that never leaves level ground, and shoes and cables wear on a shorter interval as a result. The brakes and tires page explains what to watch for.

Electrical and drive system

JobPrice
Solenoid replacement$100 to $250 installed
Speed controller replacement$300 to $600 installed
Motor repair or replacement$300 to $1,000 depending on rebuild vs replace
Charge port or minor charger repair$100 to $300
Full charger replacement$300 to $800 depending on brand and output
Cable and terminal service (corrosion, voltage drop)Quoted, usually well under $150

The last row matters more than it looks. Tucson’s NOAA normals put more than 40 percent of the year’s rain into June through August, nearly all of it in short, hard monsoon bursts, and the humidity and blowing dust that come with those storms oxidize cable lugs and charge-port pins fast even in a climate that is dry the rest of the year. Corroded connections mimic a dying pack. Part of every diagnostic is a voltage-drop check along the main cables, and it routinely swings a quote from four figures down to a cable job. Controllers and motors also run harder here: pulling a cart up a real grade draws more current and generates more heat than level cart-path duty, which is part of why we check controller temperature history as part of a motor complaint. Details on the motor and controller and charger repair pages.

JobPrice
Lighting circuit repair (switch, fuse, wiring, one lamp)$75 to $150
Brake light or turn signal repair, including flasher and switch$100 to $250
Full light kit install (headlights, taillights, brake lights, signals, horn)$250 to $400 plus the kit
Mirrors and red reflectors, front and rearQuoted, usually under $100 installed

Arizona’s neighborhood electric vehicle standard, A.R.S. § 28-101(56), requires the federal low-speed vehicle equipment list before a cart can legally use a street posted above 35 mph or claim NEV status at all: headlamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, taillamps, reflex reflectors, a parking brake, mirrors, a windshield, seat belts, and a VIN. What no repair shop can sell is the VIN itself, so a golf cart stays a golf cart under state law no matter what lights it carries; building it out to the equipment list is what lets it operate as an NEV. The lights and street-legal equipment page and the street-legal rules page cover the rest.

Tune-up and annual service

CartPrice
Electric tune-up (water and load test, terminals, brakes, tires, lights, connections)$100 to $200
Gas tune-up (adds oil, plugs, filters, belt)$150 to $300
Return-from-summer check for seasonal residentsSame as tune-up

The Northwest Tucson annual pays for itself. Watering and terminal care alone are the difference between a three-year and a five-year lead-acid pack in a climate where Tucson International Airport counts 67.9 days a year at 100°F or above. On a cart that works real grades, the same visit checks brake adjustment and cable wear before they turn into a squeal on a slope. The tune-up service page lists everything that gets checked.

What moves a price inside its range

  • Pack voltage and battery brand. A 48V pack of premium Trojan 8-volts costs more than a 36V pack of value 6-volts. That is the biggest swing in the whole price list.
  • Cart type. LSV-equipped and NEV-built carts from ICON and Evolution use different controllers, onboard chargers, and lithium battery-management systems than an older Club Car DS. Parts cost more and diagnostics take longer.
  • Grade and duty cycle. A cart that lives on a real slope in SaddleBrooke, the Catalina Foothills, or Dove Mountain wears brakes and puts more heat through the controller than a cart parked on flat ground, which shows up in how often those parts get replaced.
  • Lifted and modified carts. Bigger tires, custom wheels, and aftermarket controllers add parts cost and sometimes labor.
  • Distance. The trip fee, not the repair price, absorbs distance. Repair prices are the same in Dove Mountain as in Oro Valley proper.

What is not on the list

Two things. We do not do factory warranty work for any manufacturer, because we are independent and not authorized by Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, or Evolution. Warranty claims belong with your selling dealer. And we do not quote a repair we would not recommend: on an old cart with a tired frame, a failing controller, and a dead pack, the honest number is sometimes “put the money toward a newer cart,” and we will say that instead of writing a $2,000 ticket.

Getting an exact number

Send the brand, the model year if you know it, the battery count (six 6-volts is 36V; six 8-volts or four 12-volts is 48V), whether it is gas or electric, and what the cart is doing. A photo of the battery compartment helps more than anything. You will get a flat quote and a window, and the FAQ covers the questions that usually come up between the quote and the visit. Same-day and next-day service is routine across Oro Valley, SaddleBrooke, Rancho Vistoso, Catalina, Catalina Foothills, Casas Adobes, Marana, and Dove Mountain.
